Ladies Night Out – Christmas Caroling

Heritage Manor 700 E. Walnut Bloomington 6:30 PM

Followed by Dinner at Monical’s Pizza 2103 N. Veterans Pkwy

I hope everyone had a peaceful Thanksgiving and enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Now that the Christmas season is upon us, I am trying to remember to enjoy the present instead of worrying about all the things I have to do before December 25.

November Meeting Highlights

  • We had Mayor Shaun Hermes talk about the structure of Hudson’s government and how committees make decisions. Then she addressed issues brought up by our members.
  • We have a new member! Lisa Bathe has joined our club. Let’s make sure to give her a warm welcome. We met Lisa at the Holiday Walk and then she came to the November meeting. She has just moved from Champaign where she was a Champaign Junior Woman’s Club member.
  • Holiday Walk was a success! We did not make as much money as we did last year, but we had more people walking. The weather was great and we all had fun. Thanks to all those who helped and walked.
  • www.hudsonwomansclub.org is our new web site. Check it out!
  • Lunch with Santa plans were efficiently organized by Barbie. If you can help, please give her a call. (726-1721)
  • Remember to save your Christmas cards and drop them off at the Post Office for St. Judes. Thanks Nancy.

December Meeting

Our December meeting is a half-hour earlier than normal – 6:30 PM. at the Heritage Manor. Try to car pool if you can. If anyone needs a ride please call me. (Mary Jo 726-1960). We will be singing Christmas Carols and handing out cards made by the 1st Grade Girl Scouts in Hudson. We have a few new Christmas songs to sing this year. After all that singing we will head off to Monical’s Pizza on Veteran’s Parkway at 7:30 PM for dinner. I have reserved the back room of the restaurant. Each member is responsible for paying for their own meal. Hope you can come!

Lunch With Santa

We could still use helpers for the morning of December 1st. If you can help and you have not already told Barbie, please call her at 726-1721. If you have any of the supplies needed, please get them to Barbie before or on Wednesday. She still needs 20 oz. plastic bottles.

Love Basket

Thanks to all the members that signed up to get gifts for a boy or girl who may not get a lot for Christmas. If you did not sign up and would like to, please contact Kelli Smith (726-1195). She is also looking for men to help deliver the gifts. If you have signed up to get gifts remember that the drop off is Saturday morning December 22, at the Town Hall between 8 and 10 AM.

Year-End Reports

Year-End Reports are due on January 21, 2002. Please mark your calendars and plan on setting aside some time after the holidays to complete this task so that it doesn’t sneak up on you. Refer to the Reporting Guidelines that I gave you earlier this year for help. You can also call me if you need help. Please be sure to let me know if you need a hard copy of your department report. I have sent out the electronic version to everyone and unless I hear from you, I will assume you will use it.

Reading Night at Hudson Public Library

I enjoyed Reading Night at the library. There was a steady stream of families who came to spend time reading and then snacking on the juice and baked goods provided by our members. Thanks to Karen McKinney for organizing refreshments for this event.

Did You Know

GFWC was an early and strong supporter of many safety features that we take for granted today. This includes seatbelts in all cars, streetlights on neighborhood streets, and accurate labeling of food and medications.

Please Remember To Bring

  • Your beautiful singing voice for caroling
  • Spending money for your dinner
  • A friend
